Site Analysis Checklist
A first-pass field checklist for understanding a site before design assumptions harden.
Use this before the next decision
- Access: how do people, vehicles and deliveries reach the site?
- Orientation: where are north, prevailing winds and major solar exposures?
- Levels: what are the significant changes in ground level?
- Drainage: where does water currently go during heavy rain?
- Services: what utilities exist and where do they enter?
- Context: what is built around the site and how does it affect privacy/noise?
- Planning: what restrictions or development controls are known?
- Existing vegetation: what should be retained or understood?
- Ground conditions: what is known, and what still needs investigation?
- Neighbour/interface issues: what could affect construction or future use?
HSD note: This checklist helps organise questions. It does not confirm site conditions, approvals, costs, structural adequacy or legal title. Those matters require appropriate professional investigation.

The HSD Intelligence Lab can turn an early situation into a preliminary project map, while a professional engagement can test the facts that matter.
